“Many winters ago, the gods gathered the seeds from the World Tree of Yggdrasil in the hopes that there would always be a tree to support the Realms of god and mortal alike should anything ever go wrong. Entrusted to the Tribes of Miðgarð for protection, they must collect Souls to nourish the Seed and protect it from harm or else bad things will happen. Very bad things. An Einherjar knows.

Seed of Yggdrasil is a special relic in the Tribes of Midgard game Journal.
Saga Mode[ | ]
In Saga, the Seed is located in the Village and must be protected. Helthings seek to steal its Souls during the night, and Jötnar journey across the World to destroy it. At the same time, the Seed consumes Souls at a rate of one every four seconds. If the Seed of Yggdrasil runs out of Souls, the tree dies and the World is destroyed with no rewards for the Einherjar... no matter how valiantly they fought.
The color of the tree indicates its health based on how many Souls it contains. Build up its health by donating Souls at the base of the tree in the Village. In exchange your protection and these souls, Yggdrasil will send out healing pulses that heal players and Fortified Gates for 100 hp per pulse. The more Souls, the higher the frequency of the pulses.

The status of the Seed of Yggdrasil can be noted in the upper right of the UI next to the Sundial, so you can keep track of your seed's health while you are away from the Village.
Survival Mode[ | ]
In Survival, the Seed of Yggdrasil is located near the starting Sanctuary. In this mode, the tree does not decay nor will it be attacked. It will still offer the same healing pulses of a blue Seed in Saga.
