Runes are in-game modifiers that affect each run of Tribes of Midgard. Before you go charging into Ragnarök, you're going to want to pick up some runes. What are runes, you ask? More than just the Viking alphabet, in Tribes of Midgard runes are also powerful modifiers that players can equip to increase certain stats, imbue abilities and a whole lot more! Experiment to find the right combination to best compliment your tribe and help you take down foes. Each rune can be the difference between being a crusher or just getting crushed.
Most classes are limited to equipping up to 5 runes at one time, while the Warden can use up to 6 if they choose the Rune Carver skill. Everyone can hold up to 30 runes at a time; extras can be stored in the War Chest in Saga or Storage Chests in Survival . Change out which runes are equipped to suit your location, the time of day, or the enemy you are battling.
The effects of Runes are stackable with the value in brackets '[...]' increasing based on the number of the same Rune equipped.
Complete the Rune Scribe Challenge by equipping 5 of the same Rune in Survival Mode to earn the Bola Weaver Rune.
Acquiring[]
Not all Runes are immediately available. Unlock new runes by completing Challenges or by earning Valhalla XP and by purchasing with Golden Horns in the Rewards (Menu).
Runes are randomly dropped by defeated Enemies or looted from Treasure Chests in enemy Camps with random rate and rarity. They can also be purchased with Golden Horns at the Golden Altar in the Village. Up to 6 may be purchased. Your first costs 1 Golden Horn, and the price increases one horn for each additional rune.
Certain Starter Kits contain Runes that will give you a boost from the moment you enter a World.
Runes can be dropped to help a mate complete their set, so make sure to let others know that the rune they are looking for is up for grabs! Unwanted runes can be left in the Village War Chest for others to take.
In Survival Mode, Fafnir the Sorcerer sells an inventory of runes in each biome based upon their rarity.
