There are four Elements in Tribes of Midgard: Fire, Ice, Thunder and Dark. All hostile creatures on the map belong to a certain element, for example Dökkálfar are Dark-type enemies, while Brennálfar are Fire-type enemies.
Einherjar can craft higher-tier Weapons with Steinar the Blacksmith that are imbued with one of the four elements which can help (or hinder) when fighting enemies.
Hitting a creature with a weapon whose element is the creature's own type will have reduced damage, while using a weapon of the opposite element will increase damage. ( This is indicated while fighting with up or down arrows next to the amount of damage from each strike.) Fire and Ice are opposing elements; Thunder and Dark are also opposing elements.
